Reformed Dutch Church show Abraham Slover received on confession of faith, June 19, 1728 and on November 6, 1728 Lucas and Sophia Schermerhorn were received on confession of faith. Listed in Sourlands Meetings for the congregation of the Milston, May 27, 1729 was Abraham Sloover, Deacon. July 24, 1732, he was on a list of debtors to the estate of Benjamin Burt. "Abraham Slown" was a settler of West Jersey with 50 acres, 1735. The Account Book of Janeway and Broughton on Somerset and Hunterdon Cos. as recorded in the Genealogy Magazine of NJ lists Abraham Slover from May 1736 to Aug. 1737. This store was believed by some to have been at Middlebrook; by others ar Burnt Mills on north branch of the Raritan river or what is now Bound Brook. The partners were John Broughton and Jacob Janeway. *Abraham died before 1749, as his widow, Sophia Slover, of Hunterdon Co. married Sept. 26, 1749, William Allen of Somerset Co., NJ. Sophia was living in 1761, when her husband, William Allen died in May or June 1761, Bedminster, Somerset Co. naming his wife, Sufiah and 8 children in his will; Robert Allen of Somerset Co., N; Joseph Allen, St. Mary, Jamaica, British West Indies; William Allen (if he returns alive from the sea); James Allen, Somerset Co.; Margott O'Harrow; Rachel Allen; Hannah Allen. It is believed that William and Sophia had a daughter, Elizabeth Allen born between 1750 and 1755. *Another sources says that this Sophia Slover was the daughter of Abraham and Sophia |
